PlantFest is Friends of Perry Lakes’ annual planting event, held each winter when conditions are right for native seedlings. Each year, volunteers come together for a weekend — or sometimes two — to put native plants into the ground at Perry Lakes Reserve.

The plants are chosen carefully: species adapted to the local conditions, sourced from local provenance stock, planted where the science says they’ll have the best chance. Dryland grasses, sedges, shrubs, and understorey species that stabilise soils, outcompete weeds, and create habitat for birds, insects, and reptiles.

Since 2021, FoPL has planted more than 12,000 native seedlings through PlantFest and our regular planting programs. If you’d like to be part of the next PlantFest, sign up to our mailing list to be the first to hear the date.
