Our structure
Incorporated, volunteer-led, accountable to members.
FoPL is constituted under the Associations Incorporation Act 2015 (WA). Our constitution sets out the organisation’s purpose, membership categories, governance arrangements and decision-making processes. All members are encouraged to familiarise themselves with it.
Management committee
The nine people steering FoPL.
Committee members are elected at the Annual General Meeting each year. They’re responsible for strategic direction, financial oversight and governance — and every one of them is a volunteer.
Martyn French
Chair
Retired academic medical practitioner. Worked at Royal Perth Hospital and UWA with over 40 years in biomedical research. Keen interest in wildlife. Coordinates committee activities and acts as general contact.
Peter Griffiths
Deputy Chair
Retired exploration geophysicist with an extensive career at Woodside and Esso. Local Floreat resident with a keen interest in conserving the ecology of Perry Lakes.
Caroline Mitchell
Secretary
Retired accountant and avid bushwalker. Responsible for financial reporting, tracking FoPL’s incomings and outgoings.
Cathy Wallace
Treasurer
Retired accountant and avid bushwalker. Responsible for financial reporting, tracking FoPL’s incomings and outgoings.
Don McFarlane
Science
Hydrogeologist and Adjunct Professor at UWA. Interests include managed aquifer recharge and climate change impacts on hydrology. Develops our calendar of talks and walks.
Brett Heil
Communications
Manages communications across all platforms to raise awareness of the group and its activities to the broader community.
Tony Harding
Works
Develops and executes monthly field work activities, liaising with the Town of Cambridge on reserve management priorities.
Dr Andrew Burbidge
Wildlife
Conservation biologist with 45 years dedicated to biodiversity conservation in WA. Coordinates wildlife walks and our strategy to preserve wildlife diversity at the reserve.

Events
New for 2026. Brings more social and educational events to the FoPL community.
Sub-committees & working groups
FoPL operates a number of sub-committees and working groups focused on specific areas of the organisation’s work, including ecological monitoring, communications and events. Members are encouraged to contribute as their interests and availability allow.
Meetings
General meetings and the Annual General Meeting are open to all financial members. The AGM is held annually, typically in the first quarter of the financial year. Dates are communicated through our newsletter and events calendar.
