Three ways to show up
Monthly field works
On the third Sunday of each month (March through November) volunteers gather at Perry Lakes to weed, plant and restore. Led by our Works Coordinator in partnership with the Town of Cambridge. Morning tea provided. No experience needed — just wear sturdy shoes and bring sun protection.
Weed Warriors
Every Tuesday morning, a small dedicated group tackles specific areas of the reserve that need more regular attention than the monthly sessions can provide. It’s a tight-knit crew, and afterwards the team heads to Cup & Co for coffee.
Adopt a Spot
For regular reserve visitors who want to take on their own small patch to care for. Talk to our Works Coordinator at the next session, or get in touch to find out more.
What to expect.
Tools provided
Everything you need is at the reserve. Gloves, tools, and guidance are all supplied. You don’t need to bring anything except yourself, sturdy shoes, and sun protection.
No experience needed
You’ll be shown exactly what to do when you arrive. Our Works Coordinator leads every session — you’ll never be left wondering. People with zero gardening experience are genuinely welcome and very effective.
Good company
Field Works and Weed Warriors attract a regular, friendly group — scientists, retirees, young families, passionate locals. The Weed Warriors are particularly tight-knit. The work is satisfying and the conversation is good.

Not sure which suits you?
Come to a Field Works session first — it’s the best introduction to the reserve and the people who care for it.
